On This Day Earth Shall Ring. The tune, Personent Hodie, appears in Theodoric Petri's 1582 collection of Christmas carols traditionally sung in Finland, Sweden and Germany, called Piae Cantiones. Words: Latin from 12th Century, German from about 1360
