Scanning the skies, the sages find a strange new light.
What does it mean, this message in the night?
"Behold: a cause for rejoicing, a king who brings you peace,
Born to receive a throne in Bethlehem."
Follow the star, follow the radiant star, follow the star to Bethlehem.
Out of the East, the sages come to meet a king.
Gold and myrrh and frankincense they bring.
They leave their towers behind them, to keep the star in sight,
Traveling toward the throne in Bethlehem.
Follow the star, follow the radiant star, follow the star to Bethlehem.
Are they surprised to find themselves beneath its ray
Kneeling before a cradle filled with hay?
They lay their treasures before him, and smile to comprehend
The heart is the only throne in Bethlehem.
When they return, the star has passed beyond all sight,
Folded within the shadows of the night.
Yet still a beacon is shining, unquenchable and bright:
Now within their hearts enthroned, leading sure toward home, is the child of light.
